Matt Joyce
Matt is a freelance illustrator based in Wales who specialises in murals. He enjoys telling stories through his art—whether on walls, packaging, clothing, cards, or the pages of magazines. His signature style combines bold lines and shapes with vibrant colors, all infused with energy, humor, and playful aesthetics.
Matt’s journey into the world of illustration has been shaped by a background in design and agency work. This foundation has honed his technical skills and fostered a deep understanding of collaboration and ideation. Over the course of his career, he has had the opportunity to work with clients of all sizes to shape and bring their ideas to life.
His work often reflects the world around him, from the lively interactions of people to the beauty of plants and beyond. These elements bring life to his illustrations, adding depth and a connection to the shared world.
Collaboration is a central part of Matt’s creative process, whether working with a client to meet a brief or helping to define and shape a brief through workshops and community engagement. He approaches each project as a unique journey, with curiosity and dedication.
Matt has extensive experience in mural design and painting commissions and has completed a number of public-facing artwork projects, including private, commercial, and hospital commissions.
He has had the pleasure of producing murals for clients such as The National Library of Wales, The BBC, The Grange Hospital, Wales Millennium Centre, Wild in Art, YHA, and more.
